I am so excited to introduce to you our new line of plant dyed silks. Each one is dyed by hand with either my family's organic food scraps (avocado pits!) or local plants.
These silk scarves were dyed with Acorns I collected from the tree outside my home. Some believe the energy of the plant matter is infused into the silk. Spiritually acorns are a symbol of growth and unlimited potential as they are a seed. Inside of it it contains and possess the “oak knowledge” – or all that it needs within to create the mighty oak. It is believed that the acorn teaches us about our own potential – the beauty of how one acorn can grow into a massive oak and seed a whole forest. They have also been a source of food and a reason to gather in community every year to harvest for many indigenous tribes for centuries.
The details and care: The 100% silk known as flat crepe, a light weight silk with a beautiful subtle sheen, measuring 22" x 22". It was pretreated carefully to make sure it is colorfast in cold water, you can hand wash with a pH neutral soap or use your machine separately on the most gentle cycle if necessary. It can also be steamed or ironed on the lowest setting, or a silk setting if your iron has that option.
Color / Design: This design is Shibori - a Japanese dyeing technique that typically involves folding, twisting or bunching cloth and binding it, then dyeing. Traditionally indigo was used for this technique. This is completely natural color each dye bath may have slight variations. Actual color may vary from the images and video shown. I tried my best to capture but every monitor or mobile display has a different capability to display colors!
Please choose between A or B
A - more purple in color, lighter, first 3 photos
B- more gray in color, darker, last 3 photos
If these sell out and you would like me to make you one I will open up preorders for similar acorn design!
