Tourmaline is from the beryl family and is not a single mineral, but a group of minerals related in their physical and chemical properties, including elements such as aluminium, iron, magnesium, sodium, lithium, or potassium. Tourmaline is classified as a semi-precious stone and the gemstone comes in a wide variety of colors. Tourmaline's energy is believed to bring your energy centers into balance, opening a gateway to your highest self. They are thought to be very balancing and clearing stones. Black tourmaline specifically is thought to be a grounding and protecting stone energetically.
This particular specimen is from Pakistan. I call it twins as two rods are stuck together. They have wonderful termination and sheen. It weigs 20.52g and is just over 2 inches in length. Very dense and solid.
