Handcrafted Bath Tray

This tray is in collaboration with a woodworker based out Iowa where it is made to order with the finest quality & craftsmanship.

Each one is carefully sealed with a non-toxic, food safe finish that is easy to maintain over time. Featuring rare American Chestnut. Before the 20th century, was one of the most important trees, both for its nuts & timber, throughout its range. At the beginning of the 20th century a blight wiped out nearly all of the mature chestnut trees, leaving only the occasional isolated grove, or tree. Most chestnut used today in furniture making is “wormy chestnut”, which is reclaimed from old barns or other structures, and is riddled with inset holes providing a “rustic” look. This chestnut came from a grove in Michigan, thought to be immune to the blight, but recently it has been discovered to be infected. While there are efforts being made to save the grove, and others like it, many trees had to be cut down and removed. Matthew, our woodworker, works with a local sawyer & has managed to buy several logs & milled up these beautiful boards to be put to good use, and at a fair price. It is a rare privilege to be able to work with chestnut, especially boards this beautiful.

Dimensions 30 x 10 x 5/8 - 3/4 inches. Dont have a free standing tub or need a special size? Not a problem, if you need a different length please let me know in the comment on your order! We will accommodate your length free of charge up to 36 inches in length, after that we can provide you a quote for the difference.
