October was made even more magical with the help of Amanda C. Marino's work gracing our orders and our pocket journals. To learn more about the artist behind the artwork, please read our interview with Amanda below. So honored to be sharing her incredible paintings and creations. I also just ordered my Moon sticker on her website! Get yours here.
How long have you been creating and sharing your work?
I started sharing my work back in 2018, but have been creating since I was much younger. I remember drawing "different worlds" during 3rd grade math, and getting in a lot of trouble for it.
What is your biggest source of inspiration for your art?
My biggest inspiration is the night sky. She is my muse.
Besides your gorgeous watercolors, what other styles or mediums of art do you like to create?
I like to explore everything. I don't stick to just one medium. Currently I am having lots of fun with oil paints. And I dream of learning more about pottery eventually.
What dreams do you have for your artwork?
My biggest dream would be to one day have my work in a Museum. I could die happy knowing that I created something that many generations will get to see.
What advice do you have for someone wanting to pursue being a creative / artist?
Create. No matter what the medium is or what the environment is, just go for it. Don't overthink it. You already have everything you need to start. All of the other details will fall into place over time.
I noticed you offer workshops (so cool) how often do you hold them and any plans to offer more classes in the future?
Thank you! I like to offer them at least once a year. Normally I'll have a workshop "season" where I like to make different workshops available around the same time.
Where did you grow up and where do you currently live?
I grew up in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and I am currently living in South Florida, USA.
If you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?
Morocco. I've been dreaming of a desert getaway. Just me and the stars.
What gets you out of bed in the morning?
Life. I'm very thankful for the life I have. As well as, the billions of ideas that I want to see come alive as paintings.
What is your favorite act of self-care?
Alone time in nature. Honestly, alone time period. I love the people in my life, and I love being around them. But nothing brings me more peace and healing than being alone in nature.
