Hibiscus Silk Scarf
Hibiscus Silk Scarf
I am so excited to introduce to you our new line of plant dyed silks. Starting out with our scarves. Each one is botanically dyed by hand with the flowers and plants we grow or mindfully forage from the land we live on.
This scarf was botanically dyed with Hibiscus, Some believe the energy of the plant matter is infused into the silk. Hibiscus is said to be a mood enhancer and is filled with antioxidants. Spiritually hibiscus is said to represent the divine feminine and is a symbol of beauty and elegance.
Half of this design is Shibori - a Japanese dyeing technique that typically involves folding, twisting or bunching cloth and binding it, then dyeing. Traditionally indigo was used for this technique. The other half I dipped into the die.
The details and care: The 100% silk known as flat crepe, a light weight silk with a beautiful subtle sheen, measuring 22" x 22". It was pretreated carefully to make sure it is colorfast in cold water, you can hand wash with a pH neutral soap or use your machine separately on the most gentle cycle if necessary. It can also be steamed or ironed on the lowest setting, or a silk setting if your iron has that option.
Actual color may vary from the images and video shown. I tried my best to capture but every monitor or mobile display has a different capability to display colors!
