Madder Silk Scarf - preorder
Madder Silk Scarf - preorder
Madder root is one of earth's oldest natural dyes, creating the most beautiful red tones. The earliest evidence of the use of madder dye dates back to 3000 BC in the Indus Valley Civilization. Madder was also used by the ancient Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans.
This silk scarf is the perfect pop of color for any outfit, throw it around your neck, tie it on your purse, put your hair up and more!
The details and care: These are super luxurious and slightly thicker than our other scarves on the site as they are 100% Charmeuse Silk, from the French word for female charmer, is a lightweight fabric woven with a satin weave, in which the warp threads cross over four or more of the backing threads. These float threads give the front of the fabric a smooth, shiny finish, whereas the back has a dull finish. I personally washed + pretreated each one carefully to make sure it is colorfast in cold water. I suggest hand washing or gentle cycle with cold water and with a pH neutral soap for the longevity of the color and silk. It can also be steamed or ironed on the lowest setting, or a silk setting if your iron has that option, iron on dull side is best.
Actual color may vary from the images and video shown. I tried my best to capture but every monitor or mobile display has a different capability to display colors! And every natural dye bath can have slight variations. Madder is a red with earthy orange undertones.
22 x 22 is photographed, but for a longer look you can choose 8 x 54 or please reach out if you have another size in mind, I have access to lots of size options.
